Class 3: How do I use this thing?

After our last class in which our brainstorm of “what is Torah?” expanded and grew and took over our whole session, we switched gears into some technical skills of using the printed Tanach. We learned gematria, Hebrew math in which each letter of the aleph-bet correlates to a number. We used that knowledge in the Great Torah Races, where students learned the organization of the Torah and raced to find verses before their classmates.

For homework this week, please complete the sheet sent home. You can also find it on our website, here.

Class 2: What IS Torah?

This week, we explored what Torah is--what is it comprised of, what is it's history, what does it mean? We generated a mind map, so big it filled the entire board. The ideas and questions on this map will all be explored and answered by the end of our year's study on Torah!

While there will usually be homework sent home, the class delved so deep into what Torah means, we stayed on this one topic the whole time! As you'll see above, their work is really quality! I was very proud, but not at all surprised.

Have a great week, see you next Tuesday!
