October 4 Class

Firstly, shanah tovah! Here’s hoping for a sweet and happy year for your family and our class! Secondly, apologies for not sending home a memo last week—the printer had given up after photocopying for High Holidays! From now on, all info is posted on our class website, which lots of the class has joined already (yeah!) Homework and homework hints are also posted every week. Once more, the site is http://arstorahstudy34.wikispaces.com/.

I am sending home the internet usage waiver for your family to review. I received very few forms back, with the understanding that if the forms were not returned the next week, I would assume you are willing to have your student’s image used online, agreeing to the form. I will extend the deadline one more week, but all decisions must be reached by October 11. Please contact me if you’ve got questions regarding this!

This week in class we started to explore how we will use technology as a class. We reviewed best practices and decided class rules. The agreement we brainstormed is posted online, and will be referenced over the course of the year. We started our unit that will explore the origins of the Torah by answering the question ourselves—the easiest kind of pre-research! Next week we’ll start with the laptops, dividing into teams to research different origin stories.

Homework due October 11: Please complete the reflection on today’s lesson. Bring in a signed copy of the waiver (agreeing or disagreeing) to use of students’ images online. Please complete the Hebrew assignment as assigned in each section (and found on the blog!)

If you’ve got any questions, please shoot me an email or give me a ring, at katz.ariana@gmail.com.
